Doing Art Together Holds 31st Annual Benefit In
New York City On Monday, March 14, 2016

New York, NY (February 23, 2016) – The 31st Annual Doing Art Together Benefit – emceed by Emmy award winning NBC 4 NY traffic reporter Lauren Scala – will take place in New York City on March 14th at the Mandarin Oriental. This year’s honorees are TV host and entrepreneur Alicia Quarles, along with Umesh Trikha who is Senior Vice President of Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management. Additionally, the night will include NYC graffiti artists, TATS CRU, creating three live canvases to be auctioned off live – by a Christie’s auctioneer – at the silent auction which will also have incredible fashion items, get-a-ways and more.

A non-profit arts education organization, Doing Art Together has done incredible life-changing work providing hands-on programs to under-served communities, since founded in 1982. “I am humbled and incredibly touched to be honored at this year’s DAT benefit. Truly, it is DAT who should be celebrated,” says Quarles. She goes on to say, “The incredible work the organization does to bring arts education programs to underprivileged students has changed countless young lives for the better. We all have a responsibly to pay it forward. DAT is doing just that, and I am lucky enough to do so as well.” Trikha shares the same sentiments, “The freedom to express ourselves is precious – not just with the spoken word, but visually. What we achieve through Doing Art Together will have a life-long impact on children’s lives. I am honored to celebrate the importance of art in our culture by inspiring the creativity of youth in our community.”

The silent auction items include luxury jewelry, fashion handbags from Burberry and Tory Burch, Kenneth Cole luggage, Delta plane tickets, a behind-the-scenes tour at Christie’s, a private tour of the New Whitney Museum, Broadway tickets and much more.

The mission of Doing Art Together (DAT) is to awaken and enrich the intellectual, social, and cultural development of under-resourced New York City children and youth, inspiring them to pursue their learning. They accomplish this by engaging youth in the visual arts, igniting the participation of their family network and building enduring partnerships with their educational community. DAT is a non-profit arts education organization that provides hands-on programs to under-served audiences, and their programs build skills that enhance the ability to learn and are easily transferred from the classroom to life.
